Ireland - SEAI - Accelerated Capital Allowance (ACA) - ArmadilloLED - Evolution In Lightng products have been approved and listed by The Accelerated Capital Allowance (ACA) Download SEAI (ACA) Approved Product List About the ACA The Accelerated Capital Allowance (ACA) is a tax incentive which aims to encourage companies to invest in energy saving technology.The ACA allows companies to write off 100% of the purchase value of qualifying energy efficient equipment against their profit in the year of purchase. The ACA is based on the existing Capital Allowances tax structure (also referred to as Wear and Tear Allowance) for plant and machinery and is only applicable to eligible energy efficient equipment. Claiming the ACA is also carried out the same way as for the standard Capital Allowances. The ACA was introduced in the Finance Act, 2008, for a trial period of three years and was extended until 31 December 2014 in the Finance Act, 2011. On a regular basis, over the course of the the ACA scheme, Statuatory Instruments (S.I.) are published with the latest updates of eligiblity criteria and ACA eligible products (all eligible products published in the SI are also searchable through the online ACA Product Search facility). ACA Example: Consider the example where a company has €100,000 profit at the end of their accounting period, on which they must pay 12.5 % corporation tax. The same company has during that period, purchased capital equipment that cost €20,000. When planning to buy new equipment, you should consider its cost over its lifetime. A non-ACA listed product may cost less to buy, but the ACA could equalise this cost in the first year or so - and as a result of purchasing the more energy efficient equipment you will also immediately begin to save on energy costs! Recent install of sourced product form company advising themselfs as 'manufacturer' is causing many concerns, limited engineering and manufacturing experience often leaves the market open, even with best intentions involved, to supply of product unsuitable in light performance and design.See example for products with CCT that's changed by 15% since install in three months (install December 2011) with use of low quality "branded" LED. Colour stability issue is due to poor thermal management on these 'run cool' chips with a direct effect to the structure. Worth a look on the picture showing product supplied to car manufacturer. Two tubes have already fallen from fitting due to heat distortion within the product. The same supplier also advised that first T8 shipment would not fit existing T8 fittings as they 'are a different size in UK to China' and had to supply alternative fittings - interesting provision from a company advising themselves as a "manufacturer", did make us all chuckle.We are monitoring this install against the request of the concerned Customer. Not all LED's or Luminaires are made equal....
